In regard to the so-called art style, why pursue it ? To me, if an artist could freely and whole heartedly express his or her values as well as the aesthetic standard through painting articulation, drawing out his or her true feelings without kitsch or affectation and paint from his or her own true self. Then, a very special and personal art style would be realised- naturally.
For instance when I paint I would fully make use of modeling without overdoing the details. Adding plenty of rich colours not going beyond, all of these emphasize harmony. As for brush stokes, I choose those easy and free ones avoiding those superficial and those devoid of substance. I love to use the aforementioned painting qualities to present what ever is on my mind, which I call an “edge ball” approach, meaning: I will push my articulations to their utmost boundaries without going against the artistic principles, beyond which will ruin the whole outcome.
This is the way I pursue my own painting style.
